(Top 5 rooftop bars at the end)
One of the gems you’ll discover residing on the famous historic Printers Alley in downtown Nashville is Bobby Hotel. A new vibrant lifestyle boutique hotel unlike any other in the heart of Music City with four dining concepts, Tavern at Bobby, Bobby’s Garage, Bobby’s Rooftop Lounge, and Cafe at Bobby. Bobby Hotel officially opened in Nashville on April 20th, 2018. From the 1956 Scenicruiser bus on the rooftop to the various city murals within each guest room, visitors get a glimpse of the hotel’s travel inspired persona, Bobby. But who or what is Bobby? More to come later.
Bobby Hotel is just steps away from the hustle & bustle of the downtown music scene and nightlife yet far enough away to get some shut eye. Housing an eclectic mix of treasures and collections from Bobby’s travels, it’s also home to an inherently creative experience that will solidify inquisitive fun-seekers as lifelong friends of Bobby’s.
Bobby’s Rooftop Lounge:
With the exception of the pool, the rooftop lounge is open to the public. The 1956 Scenicruiser bus is the focal point and steals the show, being located on the edge of the building, fun-seekers can sit behind the driver’s seat for an edgy experience, not meant for the faint of heart with fear of heights. Drinks and light bites are available in the central lounge area which transforms to different activation themes depending on the season. We happen to get a glimpse of the winter igloos and cabins during their winter activation.
Tavern at Bobby:
The hotel’s signature restaurant features vintage leather banquettes, trumpet chandeliers, and a wooden canopy bar. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the capacity to serve up to 100 guests. The Avocado Toast was delicious as a shareable starter, but my favorite was the “Michelada” Mussels served in a spicy tomato broth with chorizo. The highlight was the Sorghum Rubbed Pork Chop and the Stout Braised Short Rib, Absolutely delightful. What was a little disappointing were the price of the meat and cheeses a.k.a. Charcuterie Board. The prices were ala cart for each meat and cheese so potentially to get all three meats and cheeses could cost you about $48. That’s too expensive. But other than that shocker, the experience was very nice.
Bobby’s Garage Bar:
Venture down to Bobby’s Garage for an intimate and gritty experience. The bar has about a dozen bar stools and chairs created out of old oil can barrels. A direct entrance in Printers Alley makes it easy to venture in and out of, which is conveniently located next to Skull’s Rainbow Room. This part of the alley smells, well like a big city with a hint of trash and sewage, reminds you of the French Quarters in New Orleans in the wee late hours or early morning stumbling back to your hotel. Great classic cocktails such as an Old Fashioned to sip on, but did not partake in the food, due to the smell outside.
Cafe at Bobby:
The Cafe offers seated and counter service with a European inspired menu. The Cafe serves light affairs with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. It also has a pet friendly patio and a full bar so you can enjoy a cocktail with your best friend. You may even get a glimpse of the resident hotel pet ambassador here or near the lobby entrance, Sasha, a rescue from the County Road Animal Shelter.
The staff were approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food and atmosphere were stunning and adventurous. The bathrooms were spectacular, clean and tidy. Whether you’re a local adventure or a traveling fun-seeker, Bobby Hotel offers a one of a kind experience in downtown Nashville.
Who is Bobby?:
Ah yes...the most frequently asked question at the Bobby Hotel, “Who exactly is Bobby and is Bobby alive? Is Bobby a she or a he? Where is Bobby now?”
